Baptism

The Bible affirms that baptism is a picture showing that the Good News of the Gospel has been applied to us (check it out in Romans 6: 3-14): through Jesus Christ's death and resurrection all who trust in Jesus for salvation have also died to the penalty and power of sin, and have been raised to new life with Jesus - true life beginning at the moment of conversion and carrying into eternity.

Throughout the New Testament we get a repeated, consistent example of those who placed their faith in Jesus getting baptized as a way to mark a break with their old way of life and to mark their entrance into life with Jesus. (To see the New Testament emphasis on baptism, read Matthew 28: 19-20; Acts 8: 26-39; Acts 10: 23-48.)

From this biblical teaching, I believe that baptism is intended for those who have already placed their faith in Jesus, and provides an important way for them to declare their new life in Jesus and their allegiance to His Kingdom. If this describes you, I encourage you to take the next step of being baptized!
