Hebrews 11: 13-16

All these people died still BELIEVING what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

  1. Beautifully said, Angela.
    Now think about this--
It's so easy to read that passage of scripture and think-- WOW-- they must have had SOOO much faith-- and I'm sure they did. But one of the things I LOVE about the scriptures, is that when you consider other passages dealing with a similar subject, it REALLY gets your brain working. For example, after reading that passage in Hebrews and thinking about the many men and women of God in the scriptures, and their miraculous stories of faith and what was done, what was accomplished because of their incredible faith-- go back to Matthew 17:20 and ponder what the Savior said..."for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
We often study the scriptures and the strength of God's servants and think "Wow, could I ever have that much faith?" But Christ says that all we need is faith the size of a MUSTARD SEED and nothing would be impossible to us. We don't realize the POWER of faith. Because really, when you think about it and really get to the root of it-- it isn't our faith- no matter how great or small that creates the miracle. It's HIS power in RESPONSE to our faith. And HIS power is limitless!

  2. The FAITH of a mustard seed. I had not thought of it like that but it's so true! I guess tiny FAITH is just as big as gigantic FAITH. If only more BELIEVERS would realize this instead of trying to compare levels of FAITH.
