Masquerades

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

God Cannot Be Tempted

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

James 1:13-15

Depraved Mind

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

Romans 1:28

They Became Fools

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

Romans 1:21-22

He Shared In Our Humanity

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15

Nailing It To The Cross

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15

Do Not Conform

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Do Not Speak to Fools

Do not speak to fools, for they will scorn your prudent words.

Proverbs 23:9

Protect My Heart from Evil

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD ; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies.

Psalm 141:3-4

The LORD Weighs the Heart

A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart.

Proverbs 21:2

Worthless Idols

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.

Hello, My Name Is

The Good News of God's Grace

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Acts 20:24

No Condemnation

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Proverbs 17: 10

A rebuke impresses a discerning person more than a hundred lashes a fool.

How would you define grace?

When I think of grace these are the words I think of:

Kindness
Love
Compassion
Forgiveness
Charity
Mercy
Pardon

Grace:

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God.

How would you define grace?

Jesus Commands Love

Jesus commands us to love one another. We are to love others the way he loves us. Everyone will know who you are by how you love.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 13:34-35

Mark 16:16 and Baptism

Christ didn’t say anything about those who believe and are not baptized.

What about the thief on the cross? Christ said to the thief, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” The thief could not be baptized before he died on the cross, but he was certainly saved that day.

Our justification from sins takes place at the point of saving faith, not at the point of water baptism, which usually occurs later.

Baptism is not necessary for salvation. But it is necessary if we are to be obedient to Christ, for he commanded baptism for all who believe in him.

Just Say Jesus

Salvation is a Gift from God

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Ephesians 2:8

P R A Y

Your Grace Is Enough (2 Cor 12:9)

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Your grace is enough
Heaven reaches out to us
Your grace is enough for me

Your grace is enough
I'm covered in Your love
Your grace is enough
For me

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

(2 Corinthians 12:9)

For the Brokenhearted

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

Salvation is a Gift

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

You are a Masterpiece

My husband posted this picture on my facebook wall.  Let's go through these and see what the God's Word has to say about it.

You are a masterpiece! (Ephesians 2:10)
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

You are important. (1 Peter 2:9)
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

You are forgiven. (Psalm 103:12)
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

You are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

You are protected. (Psalm 121:3)
He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber;

You are family. (Ephesians 2:19)
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household,

You are strong. (Psalm 68:35)
You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!

You are unique. (Psalm 139:13-14)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

You were created for a purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

You are victorious. (1 John 5:3-5)
This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

When You Believed

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13-14

Remember those Old Testament Believers? They are saved by faith, too!

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance.

Hebrews 11:13

Abraham looked forward to the day of the promised Messiah.

(John 8:56)

Here are some Old Testament believers who had faith in Christ: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Sarah.

Your faith in Christ is what saves you.

That's why they call it saving faith or faith that saves!

Not Condemned

John 3: 18 says, "He who believes in him is not condemned;"

Do you believe in him?

The bible says if you believe in him you're not condemned.

How cool is that?

Did you get that?

Are you getting it?

All Who Call On Him

But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:8-13

Did you get that?

Every Person. Everybody. Everyone.

And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved;

(Joel 2:32)

Did you get that?

They shall never perish

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

John 10:27-29

Did you get that?

You. Will. Be. Saved.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

Did you get that?

Believe in the Lord Jesus and be Saved

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.

Acts 16:31

Did you get that?

Sunday Notes: The Grace of God

Today's Message at Church
John 6:36-47

These are the notes I jotted down at church while I was listening to the sermon.  It really impacted me in a big way.  I am still thinking about everything.  Did you have a chance to listen to the sermon from the church web site?  I sure hope so! :)

NOTES

The Grace of God and Our Salvation.

I am what I am by the sheer Grace of God.

God's Grace never changes.

Read John Chapter 6

(I still need to read the whole chapter)

Remember when Jesus fed 5,000? Well, that meal was about God's grace.

God's Grace is necessary.

vs 37 "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."

He said whoever comes to Him He will never drive away.  Did you get that?

vs 44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day."

Jesus said He will raise him up.  Did you get that?

I underlined this next verse in my bible...

vs 47 "I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."

Jesus said he who believes has everlasting life. Did you get that?

It's because of God's Grace that we have Salvation.  It's not because of us, it's because of HIM.

My Salvation is because of God's Grace!  God Himself draws us to Him!

Romans 3: 10-12 says, "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."

It's because of God's Grace that we have everlasting life.  He draws us to Him,  not the other way around.  God doesn't change!

Ephesians 2: 1-2 says, "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient."

Keep reading Ephesians Chapter 2.  Read it very slowly. Soak up every single word because there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less.  His love for us never ends.  His love for us is on-going, everlasting, from the beginning to the end.

No matter how hard things get always remember it's temporary.

God never drives us away!!!

John 6:37 says, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."

John 6: 38-40 says, "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 10: 27-29 says, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."

He has taken all of us in His hand and He'll never ever let you go.

He who Believes has Everlasting Life

John 6:35-47
New International Version (NIV)

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

“Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

Today's Message at Church

I’m still thinking about today’s message at church. It was about “The Grace of God” and it was on John 6:35-47. It’s listed at the top of the page and it’s part of a new sermon series that started today called “CRUX – the book of John” – I hope you will give it a listen because it has changed how I see God and how I think He sees me. I hope the message moves you as much as it moved me. Pretty cool stuff.

Making One's Calling and Election Sure

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.   For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.   Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:3-11

God's Handiwork

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
