  1. "He is not the God of the dead but of the living." (Matt 22:32)

"All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matt 22:40)

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to." Matthew 23:13

Chapter 23 has really opened my eyes to how Jesus deals with toxic people. Verse 13 is still going on today! How many modern-day Pharisees and hypocrites out there today who shut the kingdom of heaven because of their man-made rules and rituals within church circles?

The bible is pretty clear about the fate of a hypocrite in Matthew 24:51—“He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Love this reminder in Matt 24:13—“but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Then it says in verse 14—“And this gospel of the kingdom WILL be preached in the whole world as a testimony to ALL nations, and then the end will come.”

This makes me think of all those “churches” out there who tell the world that they had better follow their rules and rituals or else. Apparently, there were a lot of control freaks back in bible times just like today and Jesus addresses this pretty clearly in Matthew Chapter 23.
